Friends of the Walker Memorial Library

Established in 1980, the Friends of the Walker Memorial Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  The Friends are a group of people who love the Walker Memorial Library and strive to  help keep the Library the rich and vibrant place it is.  For forty years, the Friends have been dedicated to helping support and advocate for the Library.

All money raised by the Friends goes to help support the Library.  The Friends purchase passes to several local attractions for patrons to check out, help support the reading programs, purchase items for the library, and provide a “Bucks for Book” scholarship for one Westbrook High School Senior library patron each year.

The Friends host events throughout the year: The Holiday Party, Valentines Tea, Together Days Book Sale and other events.  Check out the the Friends Event Page to find out what is currently going on.

The Friends’ Goals

  • To focus public attention on the Walker Memorial Library

  • To stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services.

  • To receive and encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library

  • To support and cooperate with the library in developing services and facilities for the community
